First post-vocab

1.Crestfallen
2.The context clue that helped me learn the meaning of crestfallen was in the passsage from the "Scions of the Surge" article in Newsweek. The word was mentioned while describing the devastation and grief that Tim Wright experienced when he learned that his staff sergeant lost both of his legs and an arm.
3.Jimmy felt crestfallen when he found out that his basketball coach had been benching him because he wasn't as good at the sport as the other players on the team were.

1.Convoy
2.I discovered the meaning of the word convoy in the Newsweek article, when it had mentioned soliders coming out of an armored convoy. The word armored gave me a hint that convoy might mean something for protection.
3.A convoy of troops surrounded the pope mobile as it was touring the city of Seattle, so that the pope was under contstant protection.

1.unprecedented
2. The word unprecedented was used to describe the independence of Iraq, and it's effect on the Muslim culture. It showed me that unprecedented is something that hasn't been known before or unexperienced.
3.The small town of Howning experienced an unprecedented economic boom when they found fossil fuel in their back yards.
